Seminyak, Indonesia

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we arrived in Seminyak on Thursday and stayed in a small local villa called Villa Elleo. The staff were incredibly friendly, including the evening security guard's dog, Mona, who came and visited us in the villa.

The narrow walkway which we had to share with many motorist on our way to the town centre

Much of our time consisted of bargaining with the salesmen (mainly Marcus and Christian buying knock-off Tommy Hilfiger t-shirts), relaxing by the pool and eating great food, typical to Australians vacationing in Bali. We visited several great restaurants and ate an amazing array of cuisines, with our final night consisting of a Wadung dinner of kailan, green mango salad, vegetarian pad thai and pink guava sorbet. We had drinks at the beach and walked along it, making the most of the 2 for 1 cocktail deal (which we all agreed were most likely double shot strength).

The said strong cocktails

Seminyak feels crowded and somewhat claustrophobic as a result of the high-walled private villas, and I can't imagine it appealing to people who weren't there to drink and/or spend lots of money on said drinks or clothes.

There were many great artworks along the streets

My family suggested that for younger kids and those who are still underage, Seminyak doesn't offer a whole lot. Apparently Sanur is great for snorkelling and other recreational activities that aren't age-limited, and relaxing without bustling atmosphere of Seminyak so I would be very interested to visit and spend some time there. Although I got to spend very little time in Bali, I think I have seen enough to make me curious enough to come back and see more - hopefully I'll be able to do this soon! I'm writing this from the Denpasar airport awaiting my flight to Singapore and then London and so will be back to write more about my experiences in London! Bye for now! Enjoy the remainder of the photos I managed to snap up in Seminyak.
