I'm in France!
A quick note before I get carried away with delving into my time here so far - I'm coming home! Next month on the 19th, I'll be landing back in Melbourne. This is a little more than a month earlier than initially intended to return, but after much discussion I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't make sense for me to stay as I was never going to be sitting my final exam for Immunology in Denmark in the first place. I'm losing money, am bored and don't see much point as I have hardly any contact hours at university and no job there. I've already contacted my boss from my job back in Melbourne and discussed my return to the lab. I'll be studying Immunology online and will be taking a remote exam in January, and have arranged so with the subject coordinator. Denmark has been brilliant up until now but I think that my stay may be better cut short and sweet rather than drawn out when I would rather not be there.
Yesterday morning I was up at 2:30 am to catch a 6:15 flight from Copenhagen to Nice, with a stopover in Paris. I arrived at 11:25 to be picked up by my uncle, whom I'm staying with further down the coast, past Monaco. The weather is much nicer, and the views much more scenic than Copenhagen's and I'm really enjoying some time out of the cold and wet. This morning we took an short hike up the mountains to a point from where there is a view out to both Monaco and Italy.
Afterwards we went to lunch in Monte Carlo at Café de Paris, where I had a salad, followed by a raspberry tart with tea as well as two macarons. Well and truly indulging in the French food while I'm here.
It was quite late in the afternoon when we left to go back home, and so after a nap we took the dogs for very scenic walk.
After veggie lasagne for dinner, I'm now retiring to study and relaxation. I'm here until early Tuesday morning, where I catch a flight into Amsterdam and will be hanging out there for a day before flying home. I'll start making arrangements for my departure in the coming weeks.
