Helsingør → Helsingborg

I finished my examination for Neuroscience yesterday, meaning I'm done with the subject! I scored well (better than I was expecting) on my presentation of action potential propagation in the dendrites of mitral rat cells, and so finishing the subject has been a very sweet feeling. As a post-exam celebration, Cecilie, Catherine and I headed for a little field day trip today. We took the train to Helsingør in the morning, which is about half an hour or so train ride up north along the coast. It's a very cute town with lots of old buildings as well as Kronborg Castle, where Shakespeare based the play Hamlet.

A take on Copenhagen's famous little mermaid

We then took the ferry across to Sweden, to Helsingborg, and had lunch.

Not really knowing what to do there, we found that there happened to be a indoor zoo about half an hour's walk away, in a converted warehouse. We were sceptical walking there, but it turned out to really be quite fun. They had a lot of small animals like birds, tortoises, lemurs, slow lorises and crocodiles. We were allowed to walk amongst them in interactive exhibits.

It was quite a long day, and we ended up catching the 6 pm ferry back. It was really great to see a little more outside of Copenhagen, but I can definitely say that now I'm very tired and just need a little rest before things get busy again with moving out and flying back home.
