The last hurrah - leaving Copenhagen

Writer's picture: Soph SjöströmSoph Sjöström

As I write this I'm now sitting at home in Melbourne, 16,000 km away from where I wrote my last post. I'm so glad to be home and with family and friends again, and wouldn't wish to be anywhere else. However I do want to recount my last few days in Denmark as it was a lot of fun. Katherine flew in for a few days before I left, and I stayed with her in the city centre as we explored Copenhagen (I for the last time).

I moved out on Thursday morning, leaving to drop my stuff of at the hotel and to go and pick Katherine up from the airport. It was bittersweet as I was glad to leave, but there were a lot of memories in that common room kitchen that I hope to never forget. My bags were so full it wasn't even funny and I'm amazed I made it to the hotel without losing anything on the way. I think I've actually torn the inside of my bag it was so stuffed.

A last glance back

Some of the things we did in the few days that we spent in the centre:

Ate ramen

Ate porridge (well, just me)

Walked around the streets, seeing the Christmas lights and markets

Visited the National Museum and Christiansborg

Chainmail is a lot heavier than you'd think it is

Had a brilliant 9 course dinner at Kokkeriet

Visited Roskilde, including the Viking Ship Museum & the Cathedral

Followed by a traditional Danish lunch at Pipers Hus

It really was a lot of fun and I got to see a lot more than what I would've endeavoured to see by myself. Roskilde was brilliant and so fascinating, I really recommend going if you're visiting Copenhagen. It's less than an hour long train-ride out from København H station.

My flight home was pleasant and I'm adjusting to the days here pretty well, and am just working on settling back into a routine. I'm flying to Bali again in a few weeks and so will be writing about that, but I expect that my posts will become less frequent (or maybe I'll just find more mundane things to write about). Thanks for keeping up with my adventures for the past few months! Much love xx
