After sorting out my apartment today, I decided to head out into the city centre to explore it, as I was also meeting up with someone to buy a bike from. I've noticed that bikes, as expected, are a huge thing here and that it would be almost impossible to live here and not own one. Getting one on a student budget however is another problem altogether. I took the train from Emdrup station to Nørreport which is what some would refer to as the "Flinders Street" of Copenhagen. The trains here are amazing - not only do they have bike racks installed inside the trains, they're also driverless and automatic.

After wandering around a bit on my own terms, I went to Nyhavn which is a small scenic proportion of the harbour, being what you see in most advertisements for Copenhagen.

The city really is beautiful, and the architecture blends brilliantly between young and old, modern and traditional. All the stores seems so trendy and on-style that it makes me jealous because I'm poor. The cafes are tasteful and cosy, and I can't wait to make friends here who I can go to said cafes with. At the moment I'm waiting for my scholarship money as well as a loan to be processed, and then I might treat myself more to the food and experiences here. I'll be doing a hop-on-hop-off tour soon so that I can go full tourist mode.

The first guy I tried to buy a bike off tried to sell me one with holes in the front wheel. I'm glad I didn't buy it. With 500 DKK cash and no bike, and needing it to be the other way around, I then messaged another seller and offered a lower price on the terms that I could pick the bike ASAP and pay in cash. In the light of this deal, I bring you my newest firetruck red ride.

I hope she serves me well.
For dinner, I sauteed some chopped zucchini, onion and garlic in olive oil and then simmered it in Prosecco as per my cooking lesson in Italy. I added a small amount of canned tomato, and then tossed the sauce in with some wholegrain spiral pasta. This meal was so simple, and so delicious! I then drank the rest of the Prosecco (don't worry, it was only 200 mL) Things here are going well, and I'm enjoying just taking things easy at the moment. Classes start in a few days and so I've bought some books and stationary for that. I really hope my Danish becomes manageable eventually. I'll keep everyone updated!
Farvel!
