Yesterday after Danish class, some friends and I decided to visit the Danish Design Museum.
"The museum was founded in 1890 by Confederation of Danish Industries in Copenhagen and the Ny Carlsberg Museumslegat. It opened to the public in 1895 in a newly-built museum building on what is now H.C. Andersens Boulevard and moved in 1926 to its current location, a former hospital."
The museum's collections feature a rotating display of new and old works, from contemporary and traditional chairs by Danish designers to straws that filter water in lesser development countries. I really enjoyed seeing all many designs that I recognised but hadn't realised to be Danish, and the gift shop (again) was great.
On Wednesdays, many bakeries in Copenhagen offer discount cinnamon rolls, and so after the museum we ventured to Sankt Peders Cafe. I was so full after the kanelsnegle that I hardly managed to have dinner.
This weekend Copenhagen has its Gay Pride parade, which is apparently one of the biggest celebrations in the country. Tomorrow I'll be heading with some friends to watch a drag performance, and then a silent disco, and on Saturday we'll go and march in the parade. I've never really been a part of something like this before, and am really excited to be able to snap some photos! Hopefully it'll be very colourful.
