Copenhagen Pride is one of the biggest celebrations in the city's annual calendar. It's Denmark's largest annual Human Rights festival, focusing on LGBT issues - a colourful and festive occasion, it combines political issues with concerts, films and a parade. I managed to catch the Pride celebrations towards the tail end, including a drag queen performance on Friday night and the parade on Saturday. In the typical Danish fashion, the day started out with a nice dose of rain, which turned into showers that eased on and off as they pleased. I met with a friend in Frederiksberg, where the parade began, and then cycled to Copenhagen Town Hall Square where it would end. It was a huge celebration and there was a massive turn out. I managed to snap a whole bunch of photos!

As you can tell, the celebrations were huge. Unsurprisingly, I've also noticed that Danes are big drinkers. Not much bigger than Australians, but as there is no law about drinking in public here, it just becomes a lot more obvious as opposed to back home where people are drinking in their backyards. While we were in the center, Katie and I decided to visit Illum and Magazine - I can only compare them to, say, Melbourne's Burke St and Emporium. Rather than going to look at the clothes, we went straight to to ground floor to the food section and tried every single sample available. This consisted of a lot of liquorice in various flavours, all for free! Talk about nifty thinking. We also went to the local Nespresso store and managed to score an oat milk cappuccino as a sample, also for free.
On Sunday, apart from sleeping a lot and doing some study, a friend and I from the Emdrup college hosted a little dinner party. The menu (courtesy to me) consisted of a eggplant parmigiana, using the recipe that I learnt in Italy (see here), roasted carrots, potato and sweet potato as well as a salad and plenty of wine. For dessert, there was watermelon.

Tomorrow begins my last week of Danish lessons, and my written exam is on Friday, the oral on the Wednesday of next week. After that, I will have a few days break and then the actual semester begins. I'm looking at booking a flight to visit Dublin as it's incredibly cheap at the moment, but will have to sort out my subjects and timetabling before I manage to do that. Other than that, things are quite swell, even though it rains almost every single day - you get used to it though. That's all for now!
